NORTH BRANCH POST # 85
By Glenn Pierce, Adjutant

Meeting Schedule:

  • Bar Finance & Accounting January 7th at 6:00 pm
  • Membership Meeting January 8th at 7:00 pm
  • SAL Meeting January 16th at 6:00 pm

Post 85 will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday January 25th, from Noon to 6pm. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-733-2767, or visit the Red Cross website at www.redcrossblood.org and enter North Branch. Those with appointments will have priority over walk-in donors. Blood supplies are critically low, and this is a quick and easy way to have a huge impact on someone’s life. Please consider making a donation.

Michelle Still, Auxiliary President - I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! In 2018, we accomplished a great deal by helping our veterans, our military and their families, and supporting our community by having parties, donating money to programs and buying gifts for our veteran members and active military members. Each part of our legion family contributes to its chosen programs with time and donations. We don't do it alone. It is due to all of you, the volunteers, and the cooperation I've seen in our North Branch American Legion Family that make our contributions possible. Now, onto a New Year!

Remember, our auxiliary unit does not meet in January. Our next meeting is Feb.12th at 7:30 PM.

Glenn Pierce, Adjutant - Membership renewals are currently out. Any questions can be answered by our 1st Vice Commander, Randy Koivisto. Renewals can be mailed to The American Legion Post 85, 6439 Elm Street, North Branch, MN 55056 or dropped off in the Club Room. You can also renew on line at www.members.legion.org.

The American Legion is the largest wartime veteran’s service organization with nearly 2 million members and more than 12,000 posts in communities throughout America. The American Legion, established by an act of Congress in 1919, was instrumental in getting the original GI Bill through Congress and the creation of the Department of Veterans Affairs. Today, the organization is active throughout the United States, supporting current military personnel and veterans, sponsoring American Legion Baseball, Boys State, Oratorical Contests and other activities for youth, and pushing for the adoption of a constitutional amendment to prohibit desecration of the U.S. flag.
