Darcy Doble, Commander - Autumn is here, so we will soon see Halloween and all of those kids in their wonderful costumes. Be extra cautious during this time and everyone will stay safe. Happy hunting to all of you sports enthusiasts as well. Thanks to everyone who came out for Fall Harvest Fest.

Michelle Still, Auxiliary President - Do you know that over 6 million hours of serving our veterans and communities were reported to the National American Legion Auxiliary. And, over $28 million was reported being raised and spent on veterans and military families, and programs to support youth, scholarships and our communities. This is ONLY what was reported. We know a lot more time and dollars never get reported. We should all be proud of our organization, and humbled by the service of others. Membership renewal is due for 2017-2018. The dues are still only $30. Please mail your check to Mary Lewis at P O Box 285, North Branch, MN 55056. The sooner your dues are paid the sooner funds are available for our veterans and military programs. I spent a very hot day with Commander Darcy Doble at the Fall Harvest Festival. I always enjoy seeing and meeting people of our community. When you read this, our NB American Legion Family Team will have participated in the Relay for Life event.
Hope to see you at a meeting soon.

Orv Otterness, Post Service Officer - The best advice I can give you is to pay a call on your County Veterans Service Officer and introduce yourself to him. His office is at the Court House in Center City. Bryan Brown (651)213-5600. There is a benefit of a Non Service Connected Pension if you qualify. You might want to check out health care enrollment, travel allowance for scheduled appointments for care at a VA medical facility, burial and plot allowance, free hearing aids, free eye glasses. Your Veterans Service Officer can fill you in on benefits and qualifications.

James Hunt, SAL Commander - Note to S.A.L. members. Our meetings will now be the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6 pm.

Julie Solle, Coordinator - Happy Fall Y'All!! Elise, Michaela and Madison, the Midsummer Ambassadors, have had a fun-filled Fall with volunteering, parades and events. National Neighbors Night Out, Stacy Days, Braham Pie Days, Sandstone Quarry Days, Ki Chi Saga parade, Lino Lakes coronation, Almelund Threshing show, the MN State Fair, Hudson Pepper Fest and most recently the Fall Harvest Fest right here in North Branch, just some of our August and Sept! The Ambassadors promote our community by attending events and festivals in surrounding areas as well as volunteering within our community! Please contact us if you have a need for volunteers!

The Ambassadors are taking orders for those delicious Butter Braids, now through Oct 23rd. The cost is $13 each or 3 for $35. All proceeds will go to the Midsummer Ambassador Scholarship fund. The Midsummer Ambassadors are excited to be hosting a "Sadie Hawkins" dance Friday October 6th from 6:30 to 8:30! This event is for Moms/Aunts/Grandmothers, or any special "Mother" figure and their Sons! The location is the American Legion Hall in North Branch, the cost is $25 per "couple". Each additional child is $5.00. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.

Our program is reaching out to find volunteers who may be interested in coordinating the Midsummer Ambassador program in my place in 2018. It’s the most rewarding volunteer experience I've personally ever had, please consider this opportunity as I am stepping down in 2017. Please call for details, volunteer requests, order Butter Braids or for information on the Sadie Hawkins dance!
